Carlos Guillén

Carlos Guillén graduated from Santa María University in the summer of 2004 with a B.S. in Journalism. He was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. He and his wife, María Carolina, have a daughter, Alejandra.


He enters his first season as a Spanish Radio Play-By-Play Announcer and fifth season as the club’s Bilingual Media Relations Coordinator after being named in February 2019. He is in the communications department producing game notes, statistical research, and player relations. He serves as the team’s Interpreter, helping Latino players address local, national, and international media. He assists as the liaison between Spanish-speaking uniformed personnel and the front office. Carlos coordinates Tigers player's interviews and unique features with Bally Sports Detroit.


He was an anchor on ESPN Deportes Miami and a news correspondent for international networks such as CNN, RCN, and NTN24. He joined the Tigers after working one season with the New York Mets in the Media Relations Department. He also acted as Media Relations Coordinator for Leones del Caracas for ten seasons in the Venezuelan Winter League. In 2023, he was assigned by Major League Baseball to be the Media Relations representative for Team Venezuela at the World Baseball Classic.
